The York Culture Awards 2016 ceremony took place on 1 December at York Central Methodist Church. Around 300 people from York’s Cultural Sector attended the awards ceremony, which included a number of performances throughout the evening.

The awards ceremony, hosted by BBC Radio York’s Georgey Spanswick, was opened with a film showcasing York’s Cultural vibrancy. The film, commissioned by Make It, was produced by filmmaker Ben Porter and narrated by local poet David Jarman.

Highlights from the evening also included performances from Accessible Arts & Media IMPs Project, York Theatre Royal Choir and music by world renowned composer Peter Byrom-Smith.
